It is all a matter of time, of being able to listen, of understanding the soil you are working with and knowing how to interpret the signs which Nature sends you. This is how Cruz de Alba came about, an exceptional wine which sums up all the qualities of the surrounding natural milieu.

Botella de Cruz de Alba

Cruz de Alba is a modern-style wine, with a fruitier character. The careful use of the oak makes this wine balanced and structured.

100% Tempranillo

Goes well with tapas and light snacks of smoked meat, beef carpaccio or soft cheeses.

.02Cruz de alba

By listening, understanding and respecting
we make Cruz de Alba a true child of nature.

If we look after nature, nature will look after us, our vines and our vineyard plots.

The taste, colour and aroma of our wine will depend purely and simply on the action of nature on our crops.

All that comes out of the ground has to return there.

We seek a total nexus between land, space and people to achieve total harmony in our vineyard.

We defend the values of the land, we respect nature and practise sustainable agriculture.

Cruz de Alba is made in small quantities and each bottle is numbered. It is made using the best Tinto Fino grapes, cultivated using agrohomeopathic treatments according to the biodynamic calendar and harvested carefully by hand.

Fermentation in small vats with manual stirring.

Aged in French oak for 15 months using the system of “thirds”: a third of the wine in casks used twice before, another third in casks being used for their second vintage and the final third in brand new casks.

After bottling the wine is stored for a further 8 to 10 months in the bottle.

Knowing how to listen to the needs of our vines at all times, we apply our own interpretation of the principles of biodynamics and agrohomeopathy. In this way we are able to reduce to the minimum the intervention necessary in the vineyard to obtain the ideal, natural results in our crops.

.04Oenology as
a way of life

Passionate and painstaking, with an attention to detail and a true lover of vines and wine, that sums up our oenologist, Sergio Avila.

Sergio Ávila

For Sergio oenology is a way of life and of feeling, that’s why he bases his work on observation, on the relationship with nature and respect for life cycles. This way of working allows him to interpret the particular needs of the land at any given moment, so that the vines in our vineyards flourish and come to harvest with the maximum quality.

el enólogo Sergio Ávila

.05From the best

Cruz de Alba is a wine whose origins can be found in the Los Hoyales vineyard, a terroir in the Ribera de Duero’s “Golden Mile”. The special characteristics of this plot are usually associated with finer, more elegant wines.
